    Alex Pierson

Pet Central has a new face this fall, when veteran reporter and news anchor Alex Pierson joins The Pet Network team.  Torontonians will recognize Alex from Citytv, where she anchored the 11:00pm newscast and reported from the field for seven years.

Known for her passionate coverage of animal-related stories and issues, Alex frequently teamed with the Toronto Humane Society and the Ontario SPCA for investigative pieces about puppy mills and animal cruelty cases.  One story that many viewers recall is a memorable interview with Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant, in which the discussion got very heated about Bryant’s proposed breed-specific Bill 132, the province-wide ban on “pit bull type” dogs.

A  life-long animal lover and an accomplished equestrian, Alex grew up riding horses and competed across Ontario on the A-Circuit.  She currently cares for her two cats and her beloved dog “Rudy” (pictured with Alex above), whom she rescued during an investigative piece on puppy mills.

Pet Central’s new season of shows begins in October.
